Side-by-Side Patient Network

The Side-by-Side Patient Network is a community of patients, carers and members of the public who work in partnership with staff to shape health and care. By sharing lived experiences and perspectives, members help ensure that research, improvement and innovation are designed with people at the heart.

What the network offers


The Side-by-Side Patient Network brings together patients, carers and members of the public to work in partnership with staff. It creates opportunities to:

  • Opportunities to get involved - contribute to projects, workshops and events across health and care.

  • Learning and support - access training and resources to build skills in co-production and involvement.

  • Collaboration - work alongside staff and other patients to influence service design and decision-making.

  • Sharing experiences - a safe space to tell your story and highlight what matters most to patients and carers.

  • Recognition and celebration - opportunities to showcase contributions and celebrate achievements together.

Who can join?


Anyone with lived experience as a patient, carer or community member is welcome to join. No previous involvement experience is required, just a willingness to share your views and work side-by-side with others to make care better.
