Exploring the impact of menopause on mental health
MARiE is a global study examining the link between menopause and mental health. Launched in 2024, MARiE is active across the UK, Europe, South America, Asia, and Africa.
Aims of the Study:
To improve global understanding of how menopause affects mental health, and to develop validated tools to support better clinical assessment and care.
What Activity Took Place:
The study has recruited 5,790 participants from the UK, Europe, South America, Asia, and Africa. A major innovation of the project is the development of the MARiE Assessment Tool - a new instrument to help clinicians identify and support the full range of menopause-related symptoms, currently undergoing international validation.
What the Study Found:
MARiE is producing one of the most comprehensive datasets on menopause and mental health to date. The assessment tool is expected to become a standard in clinical care, and the global approach is ensuring solutions are inclusive and relevant across cultures.
