Improvement in Action

Are you passionate about improving your services and eager to turn ideas into action? This programme is designed to guide you and your team through planning, implementing, and testing an improvement initiative.

Over approximately six months, the programme will involve three training days and a final sharing event; you’ll learn to define your project scope, use evidence and systems thinking, develop aims, test changes, and demonstrate impact.

What the course provides:

Day 1 

  • Determining your scope

  • Framing your work around an evidence base

  • Systems thinking

  • Working with others


Day 2

  • Demonstrating outcomes and impact

  • Developing an aim

  • Making the right change

Day 3

  • Making the right change continued

  • Testing/piloting changes

Day 4 - Sharing event

  • Share your initiative’s progress

  • Scale up and spread


Outcomes of the course:

Development of improvement skills and knowledge, as well as a deeper understanding of the importance of measurement and the confidence to use data. Delivery of an improvement project with demonstrable learning and impact, and the ability to plan next steps and additional projects. You will also work on next steps in terms of developing a network of peers across the Trust, as well as contributing to the evidence base around effective care.

Those interested in teams leading support to deliver improvement initiatives, and would like support and training to work across Trust systems and with individuals who access and use our services.
