Preceptorship - Getting Involved
A structured preceptorship programme supporting new registrants with quality improvement skills and experience, culminating in a poster presentation of their work.
At the start of the preceptorship programme, participants gain skills to design and deliver a small-scale improvement initiative, with expert guidance from the Academy team.

What the course provides:
A structured learning journey to support transition into practice.
Training in quality improvement tools and techniques, including the model for improvement.
Guidance from experienced mentors and peers.
Dedicated time to design and deliver an improvement project.
Opportunities to showcase work through poster presentations.
An introduction to the Academy of Research & Improvement
Diagnosing the issue.
Stakeholder engagement – including how to involve patients and service users.
Measurement.
Spread and sustainability.
Outcomes of the course:
By the end of the programme, preceptees will have developed confidence in their role, improved critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and gained hands-on experience of leading change in practice. We focus on the development of participants' communication, teamwork, and project presentation skills, and hope that preceptees will be able to:
Identify and diagnose issues within a service
Engage stakeholders and involve patients/service users
Use measurement to monitor improvement
Plan for the spread and sustainability of changes
Present project findings via a professional poster presentation.

This programme is designed for newly registered healthcare professionals across Hampshire and Isle of Wight NHS Foundation Trust who are starting their professional journey and want to build confidence, develop improvement skills, and make a positive impact in their workplace.
