Our research delivery model
We are a community NHS organisation that delivers research across multiple specialist diabetes teams and local community services, such as primary care. This enables us to reach broad patient populations, tailor delivery to sponsor requirements, local contexts, and embed research more naturally into routine care. This helps to shift research and care from the hospital into the community.
The centre is linked to Southampton Community Diabetes Service, Portsmouth Community Diabetes Service, South-East Community Diabetes Service and West and North Hampshire Community Diabetes Service. The centre is also linked with a substantial primary care footprint. This gives sponsors access to a strong and diverse community population.

We have a strong track record of delivering diabetes research at scale, recruiting more than 2,400 participants across 45 studies. Our teams are experienced in both commercial and non-commercial research and consistently achieve high recruitment and retention rates, helping studies stay on track and deliver meaningful results.
Our network spans specialist community diabetes services, primary care and wider healthcare partners across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. These established relationships provide access to diverse patient populations and support efficient participant identification, recruitment and follow-up.
We understand the importance of speed without compromising quality. Dedicated governance, safety and pharmacy support enables rapid study activation, streamlined approvals and efficient site set-up, helping sponsors meet recruitment timelines and project milestones.
We can deliver research through a variety of models, including specialist clinics, community settings, primary care and remote approaches where appropriate. This flexibility allows us to adapt delivery to protocol requirements while improving accessibility for participants.
Everything we do is centred around making research easier for people to take part in. By bringing research closer to home and offering flexible participation options, we aim to reduce barriers, improve participant experience and support long-term engagement throughout the study.
Our research delivery is supported by experienced research nurses, clinical research practitioners, allied health professionals, clinicians, governance specialists, pharmacy teams and operational staff. This multidisciplinary approach ensures studies are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard from start-up through to close-out.
